1/ Walking in the mountains

The mountains are a natural environment with a diversity of landscapes, terroirs and traditions. It is a place for tourism, farming and other activities.

It is home to a wealth of biodiversity, and is a fragile environment that we owe it to ourselves to preserve.

You can walk or cycle here, following the footpaths so as not to damage the environment. Keep your rubbish with you. Respect the herds and keep away from the dogs that watch over them. Look at the flowers without picking them up.

To make the most of the hike, a minimum of equipment is required.

A pair of mountain boots suitable for uneven terrain.

Warm clothing and a waterproof jacket in all weathers, as the weather can change very quickly in the mountains.

Don’t forget water and something to cover your head.

Don’t forget to check the weather forecast when preparing your hike.

Find out how difficult the route is. And take a map with you.

If you have binoculars, leave them in your rucksack and you may be lucky enough to spot chamois and other mountain mammals that are regularly seen from the Pas de l’Aigle at the top of the Pointe de Nyon.

You are now all set to make the most of your hike.

Enjoy your walk
